Review week 6

What is the pen tool used for?The pen tool is used to create curved lines that make objects, it is like the shape tool but with more freedom.

How can you manipulate a path/line in Illustrator? Discuss the use of the white arrow tool, pen+, pen-, and convert too.
You can manipulate a path/line using the tools above, using the white arrow tool lets you move a point to a new spot, bring the line a specific way towards it. The pen+ and pen- tools are used to add or take away an anchor point on a path, the convert tool lets you move a tool and drag the line along with it

How can you utilize the layers palette in Illustrator?
You can use it as a base to trace an image without distorting the image itself, or use it to create different objects that you don't want to blend together
How do you create a clipping mask in Adobe Illustrator?
Create a shape, bring it to the front, highlight everything, click the shape, click object, create clipping mask

Review Week 5

Shape: The eyedrop shape attracts the eye to look at the design.

Line: The lines at the bottom make it seem mysterious, trying to figure out what it is.

Texture: The texture makes the poster seem to have an old-style feel to it.

Space: This negative space behind the man makes the eye focus on the main subject, the text and the paper man.

Value: The value of this picture makes it seem like the horse actually has depth.

Why/how can icons be used to communicate?

What is the difference between copyright and public domain?

Copyright means its owner does not want it copied, while public domain is open for use

What is OSHA? What do the letters stand for?

Occupational Safety and Health Administration,  they help work environments be more safe

How can graphic designers effectively communicate? In your own words, explain the communication process.

They can learn their audience so that they know what they enjoy, and dislike and create designs corresponding to that

Understanding the history, culture and movements of fine and graphic arts will make you a better producer of visual messages. Why?

Because you will know what each line or shape or element of design will symbolize and make it more easy to communicate.

Elements are the actual things in the design, while principles tell us how we should organize these elements
